What this site is
AgentProtocol.ai is a practical guide to AI agent communication standards, including MCP, A2A, the Agent Protocol REST spec, AI agent APIs and agent interoperability. Our goal is to explain how these standards work, how they differ, and how they fit together — clearly enough for a newcomer and precisely enough for a developer choosing between them.
Our principles
- Independent and vendor-neutral. We are not the official source for any protocol, and we're not affiliated with the organisations behind them. We compare; we don't sell.
- Honest about uncertainty. These standards are young and evolving. Where things are unsettled or a spec may change, we say so rather than manufacture false confidence.
- Practical first. We favour worked examples, plain language and clear comparisons over hype.
How to use it
Start with the AI agent protocol overview, compare options on MCP vs A2A vs Agent Protocol, or get a quick recommendation from the protocol selector. The glossary defines the vocabulary as you go.
A note on accuracy
We work to keep pages current, but specifications change and mistakes happen. Always confirm critical details against each protocol's official documentation. Found something wrong or out of date? Let us know.
